The Christian Mechanic

Why does the Mechanic pray?

What does he say?

 GOD HELPS MECHANICS

It was a beautiful day in central Alberta as I went around the field mowing hay. As I was going down the east side of the field I noticed a car pull into the entrance gate on the west side. A man got out and lifted the hood.  It was obvious he had a problem of some kind.  Being trained in, and enjoying mechanical repairs, I sent up a prayer to heaven for help.  I asked The Lord to help me find the problem with this man’s car when I got to the other side.

As I reached the spot just opposite his car I shut down the tractor and walked over to where he stood in front of his stalled car.  “Having a problem ?”;  I asked. “Yes”, he said, it just suddenly lost power , and I coasted into the entrance of your field.  “Mind if I take a look”, I said.  “Not at all”, he replied.  I looked in at the motor and my eyes went immediately to the coil above the distributor.  There it was in plain sight, the wire had fallen off one side of the coil.  I reconnected and secured the wire and asked the man to try starting the engine. He did, and it roared into life.  The man expressed his thankfulness and I told him it was an answer to prayer and that God, not me had solved his problem. Yes, God is a Great Mechanic !

STUBBORN TRANSMISSION

Mechanics is a trade that requires a lot of patience and will develop that quality in our character, if, we recognize that we have a Master Mechanic to help us in our work.

One day I was replacing the clutch on our old school bus that we had bought and camper-ized. I did not have a proper pilot shaft when aligning the pressure plate but I found something to improvise and I thought I had it lined up pretty good.

It was a large transmission that I had to attach to the engine and so I had it hung on a “come-a-long” (a small mechanical hand winch) to lower it into place just below the floor of the bus. I tried for over an hour to get that transmission to connect properly with the bell housing of the engine, but without success.  I took a break, went into the house to talk with my Sweetheart.

After a few minutes, I decided to try again.  I went out to the bus and prayed, “Lord, please help me to get this transmission in place”!  I took hold of it and pushed it forward towards the engine and, bang, it went into place with such ease that I was amazed; but then, that is how God works, when we come to the place where we can do no more and need His Divine intervention, He has our  Guardian Angel step in and solve the problem.  I just love Him so much, for He is interested in all of our difficulties, even the smallest things that we can not accomplish without His help, He is always there to deliver us and solve our problems.  What a wonderful Heavenly Father!

THE TRACTOR THAT WOULDN’T START

A farmer, who was a Christian, and a keeper of God’s True Seventh Day Sabbath, had hired a man to thresh his grain.  In those days and until the 1950’s, there were always individual farmers who had purchased threshing machines and went from farm to farm at harvest time.  The farmers would each come with their team of horses as the crew moved from place to place.

This was how it was yet where I grew up as a child in the central western part of Manitoba. My Dad had a threshing machine and each year would thresh several neighbors besides our own fields. This experience happened in the province of Saskatchewan.

This Christian Brother had hired a man to thresh his grain who was not a Christian. He told him they would not be able to thresh on God’s Seventh Day Sabbath.  The man agreed, but when this man went to church on Saturday, he called the crew together and said they were going to thresh while the Adventist Family were gone to church.

Well the crew came and the owner of the tractor and threshing machine tried to start the tractor.  No matter what they did it would not start so they finally gave up.

The next day, which was the first day of the week, which the pagans call Sunday, he came to thresh.  The Adventist brother knew what he had tried to do on God’s Sabbath and watched to see what would happen when he tried to start the tractor.  To the amazement of all the crew and the owner of the machine, it started immediately and they all went to work  on the so called “Sunday”, but on God’s Seventh Day Sabbath the tractor would not  even start !

God is keeping a strict account in The Books of Heaven of those who obey His Commandment to keep The Seventh Day Sabbath Holy and those who trample it under their dirty feet. Read what he says in Exodus 31:13 – 18.

“Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily My Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I Am The LORD that doth sanctify you.

31:14       Ye shall keep The Sabbath therefore; for It is holy unto you: every one that defileth It shall surely be put to death : for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off  from among his people.

31:15     Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is The Sabbath of rest, Holy to The LORD: whosoever doeth any work in The Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

31:16       Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep The Sabbath, to observe The Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

31:17       It is a sign between Me and The Children of Israel for ever: for in six days The Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed.

31:18       And He gave unto Moses, when He had made an end of communing with him upon Mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
